Container Repair Mechanic / Handyman
Ability to safely and effectively inspect, repair and replace parts on mail room equipment, containers and rolling stock.
Job Duties :
Identify repairs and fix :
Rigid Wire Containers
Regional Mail Containers
General Purpose Mail Containers
Heavy Duty Containers
Hampers
Perform daily inspection of Mail room equipment :
Inspection / Repair Process includes :
Retrieve container
Verify bar code matches EIRS number
Scan in container using WTDT Report
Determine whether container meets Postal condemnation criteria – if so, mark as condemned and stage for QS approval.
If container does not meet condemnation criteria, inspect container for repairs and determine necessary repair parts
Mark critical welds and repairs with red dot stickers
After making necessary repairs, scan out container using WTDT Report
Stage container in appropriate area
Understand salvage repair parts procedure
Understand rework process
Clean work area at the end of shift – properly dispose of oily rags in designated metal containers.
Requirements : Mechanical Aptitude
Experience with hand tools, Pneumatics, impact wrenches, drills ratchets, Air Chisels preferred, grinders
Must be able to change a wheel on a cart
Basic to intermediate computer skills
Basic Data Entry Skills
