As the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) you will support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department. This pivotal role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and administration of nursing services across the facility. The ADON is instrumental in ensuring high-quality care standards, staff development, and compliance with healthcare regulations. You will leverage your leadership skills and nursing expertise to foster an environment that prioritizes resident care and staff professional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Nursing Leadership: Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing the nursing staff and operations. Help develop policies, procedures, and strategies that enhance the quality of care and efficiency of services as the Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Staff Development: The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a key role in the recruitment, training, and professional development of nursing staff. Ensure that all nurses and caregivers receive the guidance and support needed to excel in their roles.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the implementation of nursing services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. As the ADON, address any deficiencies by coordinating with the Director of Nursing to implement corrective actions.
- Clinical Supervision: Provide clinical oversight in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Ensure that all patient care activities are conducted in accordance with established standards by the Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Communication and Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication among healthcare team members, patients, and their families. The Assistant Director of Nursing works closely with other department heads to promote an integrated approach to resident care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Must possess a current RN license in the state of employment.
- Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a healthcare setting, preferably in long-term care or a similar environment.
- Skills: Strong leadership capabilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in nursing best practices.
- Certifications: Advanced certifications in nursing administration or leadership are preferred.
