Our client, a prestigious Federal contractor, is seeking an energetic, and motivated Field Service Technician to join our their Land Border Integration team in the Laredo / McAllen. TX area. Our client is looking to onboard as a 6-month contract to hire.
This position will convert to fulltime at $75,000 to $85,000 per year.
This position will require travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the Laredo and or Rio Grande Valley region. Daily area of coverage could include sites up to 150 miles from home base.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections at Ports of Entry on deployed equipment, including but not limited to License Plate Reader (LPR) equipment, RFID, network/power, signage, and communication devices.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime.
Install new equipment and systems according to specifications and SOPs provided by SAIC deployment management.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements.
Adhere to all CBP and SAIC IT Security, physical security, and operations security policies.
Document accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels.
Adhere to safety protocols such as OSHA and local regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks at Ports of Entry.
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed during business hours Monday-Friday.
Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with Customs and Border Protection personnel, Border Patrol, vendors, and the traveling public.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only).
Technically proficient with signal cabling such as CAT 6 to include testing and termination.
Basic Understanding on how to use a voltmeter to test AC, DC and continuity.
Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is a major desired skill.
Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical systems.
Ability to drive daily to job sites up to 150 miles away.
May travel to other locations on the U.S. border to assist with installations and ticket resolutions for up to two weeks.
Reliable transportation with insurance.
Must have a valid passport or equivalent travel document.
