Description
The hydro technician is responsible for pressure testing the manufactured pipe items in the shop. The technician will bolt flanges together according to customer and shop specifications.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform high pressure testing of manufactured pipe items
- Fill the unit with water and bring up to pressure required by blueprint.
- Check for any leaks or unsafe conditions and make repairs as necessary.
- Monitor crystal gauge and adjust pressure using heaters and cooling unit to hold pressure in required tolerance.
- Release pressure and drain the unit of all water.
- Clean out the pipe and add any remaining items required.
- Disassemble pipe and stage it for the assembly team.
- A willingness to cross train and assist in other shop functions as needed.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Safety minded
- Ability to use basic tools such as hand wrenches, torque wrenches, impact guns and other various items.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Experience: 1-year plus in a manufacturing facility
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to life 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking/sitting
- Manual dexterity and mobility
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
- Visual and auditory acuity
- Basic computer skills
