Job Description
Elitecare Medical Staffing is seeking four experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) for the Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit in Anacortes, Washington. This role is essential for providing high-quality care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients during labor and delivery, adhering to AWHONN guidelines for nurse-patient ratios.
- Assist in triage within the L&D unit, utilizing one of the L&D rooms as a triage area.
- Monitor and assess maternal and fetal health throughout the labor process.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for laboring mothers and newborns.
- Administer medications and titrate drips as necessary, including Pitocin, Magnesium, insulin, and TXA.
- Educate patients and families about the labor process, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Stabilize newborns when necessary and manage care for term and late preterm infants in the nursery.
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- L&D Beds: 4 (separate from postpartum beds)
- Postpartum Beds: 4
- Births per Day: 0-4; approximately 40-50 per month.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Preferred: AWHONN EFM (Intermediate or Advanced), ACLS
- Minimum of [insert years] years of experience in labor and delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn stabilization preferred.
- Ability to read telemetry strips; GE monitors for EFM System used.
- Experience as a charge nurse is preferred.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse may take assignments ideally out of staffing.
- Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Neopuff, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen available.
- On-call Availability: OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are on call 24/7; pediatric services also available on call.
