Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting, managing budgets, and implementing effective financial strategies. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, a thorough understanding of GAAP, and proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks.

Duties

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
• Coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and stakeholders.
• Provide financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
• Assist with the preparation and execution of financial audits and tax filings.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support in day-to-day activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to support financial decision-making and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5 years of experience in a Controller role and have steel industry experience
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required
• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll management
• Experience with financial statement preparation (balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow reports)
• Expertise in financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
• Knowledge of internal controls and ability to ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax laws
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective leadership and team management experience
• Ability to communicate financial insights to stakeholders and non-financial teams
