Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Manager to oversee the dietary department in our Residential Care facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of nutrition management, Resident care, and dietary regulations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our residents receive optimal nutritional care tailored to their individual needs. This candidate must also be able to operate within the established budget for the Dietary Department.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the dietary department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Plan and/or approve all seasonal menus for the residents.
- Oversee the preparation of weekly menus for all meals.
- Responsible for ensuring that all Cooks and Diet Aides are following the guidelines for care and proper handling of food service equipment.
- Ensures that all Dietary staff have completed the proper Food Handling courses.
- Monitor the daily kitchen duties checklist to be sure all tasks are completed.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment including the walk in freezer and cooler, as well as all kitchen appliances are maintained in working order.
- Contact the appropriate vendor to schedule required maintenance or repairs a d inform the Administrator when needed.
- Maintain regular food and beverage inventory, perform weekly ordering of said inventory and ensure that the items delivered are reflected accurately on the packing slips & invoices.
- Report any resident dietary concerns to the PCA/RCA department such as loss of appetite, decreased fluid intake, problems with socialization in the dining room etc.
- Meet with each new resident to review the food services program, note any preferences and dislikes and review their food plan with them.
- Act as a liaison with State Health Agencies regarding our Dietary Program.
- Arrange resident seating plan in dining room and provide a copy to the Administrator and/or Director of Resident Care.
- Ensure that there is always a designated contact available to answer questions as they relate to food preparation, kitchen equipment/supplies etc.
- Oversee the menus and planning for and special events at the facility.
- Attend all scheduled In Service trainings as required by the State of Connecticut DPH.
- Complete Performance evaluations and submit them to the Administrator for review before delivery.
- Other duties as required or requested.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a dietary management role.
- Strong knowledge of nutritional needs of an elderly community.
- Experience with resident assessment techniques and developing care plans.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes within a dietary department.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Director of Resident Care around the resident dietary plans.
- Certification or degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
- Current ServSafe certification is Mandatory.
