Busy Charlotte florist seeking a part-time to full-time floral designer to work in a professional floral design studio specializing in custom, high-end floral designs for daily deliveries, weddings & events, and funerals. (Flower shop is under new ownership.)

They maintain a positive attitude under pressure and have excellent time management skills, balancing efficiency with high-quality results. Strong organizational skills are essential, ensuring refrigeration space is properly rotated and products are easy to locate. They consistently produce high-quality floral arrangements, possess basic math skills, and are eager to learn new recipes and techniques. Effective communication is key, as they will collaborate with the design team, sales staff, and logistics team. This role requires standing for up to eight hours per day and regularly lifting 20-30 lbs.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Flower Processing & Inventory Management
- Receive and inspect all flower deliveries, ensuring proper check-in and labeling with date stickers.
- Store new flowers appropriately, date boxes upon arrival, and organize them behind older inventory following FIFO (First In, First Out) guidelines.
- Follow established flower processing procedures to maximize longevity and freshness.
- Pull flowers according to pull tag orders for upcoming events.
- Track floral waste by completing the “throw away” sheet weekly or as needed.
Inventory & Supplies Management
- Manage inventory and ordering of hard goods and floral supplies to ensure availability.
- Check in, organize, and consolidate dry goods as needed to maintain an efficient workspace.
Shop Maintenance & Cleanliness
- Maintain proper rotation and cleanliness of refrigeration units to preserve flower freshness.
- Wash and sanitize buckets to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Keep the workstation and design room clean at the end of each shift, following the provided checklist.
- Assist with the weekly cleaning schedule to maintain overall shop cleanliness.
Customer Service & Administrative Support
- Provide backup phone support in the afternoon, assisting customers and entering orders as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Design & Order Fulfillment
- Design floral arrangements according to established recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Replicate designs accurately using recipe images, written instructions, and/or sample arrangements as references.
**We are a fast-paced design studio and would prefer a designer with previous flower shop experience.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
