Elizabeth Layton Center is looking for a full-time Adult Specialist in our Ottawa, KS location. This is a Monday - Friday position with hours of 2pm-10pm. EOE

SUMMARY: The Adult Specialist will provide supervision and supportive services to adult consumers diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). The incumbent, through supervision and direction of a licensed and credentialed QMHP, will assist consumers by providing information, education, and training to build knowledge, develop skills, and change attitudes with a goal of increasing the consumer’s independence, productivity, self-determination, integration, and inclusion in the community.
The majority of the Adult Specialist’s time will be spent providing services to consumers at the Center’s residential housing, but some interaction may occur in consumer’s homes, vocational site, program site or other community settings. The position reports directly to the CSS Coordinator or designee.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in developing and providing structured activities to include attendant care, psychosocial group activities and individual community support
- Maintains a safe and productive environment during time spent in attendance of consumers
- Provides transportation to and from various activities or appointments
(must maintain a good driving record) - Provides medication observation in the community and in supported housing environment
- Maintains appropriate records for reporting, evaluation, accounting, and clinical purposes
- Meets deadlines for daily paperwork and reports
- Provides quality documentation
- Completes other duties as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor
- Complies with ELC policies and procedures
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Possesses a high school diploma or graduate equivalency degree
- Have a minimum of 40 hours of training in providing equivalent supportive services to child and/or adult consumers or be able to attend 40 hours of on-site training. On site training may be required outside of regularly scheduled working hours.
- Must pass a security check as required by Medicaid Regulations
