SUMMARY:
The incumbent will work as part of a team providing crisis intervention to meet the needs of members of the community as we transition to a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This includes responding to telephone calls on crisis intervention lines, assess current level of dangerousness for clients who report a psychiatric crisis both by phone and in-office, provide crisis case management services applying CCBHC practices, as needed, work with adults and children to see that community resources are in place to meet the current needs of the client. Provide emergency services on a short-term basis. Assist with efficient functioning of the Emergency Services Team. Screening/Assessment/Diagnosis, including risk assessment, Person-Centered Treatment Planning, Services, Screenings provide case management/therapeutic services to consumers. The majority of the Case Manager’s time will be spent providing services to consumers in consumer’s homes, vocational site, program site or other community settings, with minimal time spent at the Center. This position reports directly to the Outpatient Director.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct service to clients in responding to telephone calls on multiple crisis intervention phone lines while concurrently documenting calls.
- Address the immediate needs of walk-in/call-in clients who present in the office with a psychiatric crisis.
- Respond to behavioral health crises in the community, at locations such as ER’s, LEO locations, schools, and consumer homes
- Support the clinical staff in the community by assisting with Mobile Crisis Unit calls.
- Transport clients to the hospital when applicable and necessary.
- Member of 24-hour Crisis team assisting with crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, and mobile emergency response on rotating schedule.
- Develop mastery of Evidence Based models.
- Obtains location and the process of acquiring resources, coordinates with area agencies
- Education to family in symptomatology, awareness of relapse indicators and handling of crisis
- Assists in collection of program data and provides reports as necessary to immediate supervisor
- Works in conjunction with other mental health center staff

- Meets deadlines for daily paperwork and reports
- Provides quality documentation
- Provides supportive intervention when needs arise outside of scheduled hours
- Assists other case managers and consumers as needed to help meet agency’s needs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience necessary to meet State of Kansas licensing regulations
- Possesses the minimum qualifications as documented in the Kansas Case Management Program Standards
- Familiarity with mental health theory and practice
