Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
To evaluate and screen audiological status of Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center residents as per physician order.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for evaluations of audiological status of residents in the ESC Center.
- Conduct audiological evaluations upon physician’s request.
- Obtain post-surgical hearing level information i.e. myringotomy tube placement.
- Assess hearing levels post treatment with potential ototoxic medications.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of hearing aids and auditory trainer systems.
- Tymponometry/Immitance testing.
- ABR/BAER threshold search testing.
- Otoacoustic Emmissions testing.
- Maintain ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team and family as appropriate to resident care.
- To provide educational instruction and competency on the use of hearing equipment i.e. ear plugs, hearing amplification devices, etc.
- Engage in the in-service education to enhance clinical and professional competence.
- Generates comprehensive reports regarding clinical findings, treatment options and recommendation for further testing and follow up.
- Provides monthly statistics into the Chief Rehabilitation Officer.
- Generates clinical schedule with consultation with Director of SLP and/or Rehabilitation Administrative Assistant, as needed.
- Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Children’s Center policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with residents and their families.
- Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, director of rehabilitation, and/or administrator.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Masters in Audiology and NYS license in Audiology.
- ASHA certificate of clinical competence in Audiology and CPR preferred.
Experience
- Pediatric Audiological evaluation with special emphasis on testing the developmentally delayed and medical complex children.

- Demonstrate excellent time management, prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
- Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
- Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Hourly Rate:
$100/Hr.
