POSITION TITLE : Mechanical Maintenance 2

STATUS : Full Time - 12 month (260 days); 8 hrs / day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break

MINIMUM PAY RATE : $19.19

General Responsibilities / Job Summary :

Responsibilities include maintenance of the facilities of the District in the areas of Preventive Maintenance (PM), repair or replacement within the areas of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), roofing, flooring, security systems, automotive and other physical devices. Assignments are generally stable in nature and are carried out in accordance with existing trade precedents, practices, and procedures. Work involves physical effort, light truck driving and exposure to the elements and potential hazards.

Essential Functions / Duties :

Diagnose automotive and / or HVAC mechanical and other related operational problems using diagnostic equipment and / or computer programs
Operate computers to communicate emails and complete work orders and maintain records
Calibrate thermostats, electric controlled by pneumatic, and pneumatic controlled by electric
Perform major electrical repairs
Maintain and repair boilers
Maintain rooftop HVAC equipment
Perform basic repairs in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, welding, and roofing, as needed
Operate on and off road District vehicles
Operate truck mounted snowplows, snow-blowers, salt spreaders and tractors for snow removal
Attend work regularly and on time and complete assigned tasks
Maintain Fire Alarm system
Committed to adhering to all personal and mechanical safety related processes and procedures

Additional Duties :

Perform as Mechanical Maintenance 1 as needed

Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, lean, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, see, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 80 lbs with assistance

Considerable knowledge of HVAC mechanical principles and practices with a strong focus on plumbing as well

Some knowledge of manual laboring principles and practices

Some knowledge of light automotive equipment operation principles and practices

Some knowledge of mechanical work hazards and related safety precautions

Some knowledge of building trades principles and practices

Ability to solder copper piping and braze ACR piping as well while following EPA regulations

Ability to participate in job specific and safety trainings

Skill in using mechanical diagnostic equipment and work tools

Skill in using light automotive equipment with and without basic attachments

Ability to detect the smell of hazardous odors

Willingness to attend training

Ability to work independently and / or lead a team of maintenance associates

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work and in working relations with associates, district staff, and vendors

Willingness to work overtime as needed

Ability to establish PM program for all operating equipment

Ability to understand and follow standard maintenance instructions

Ability to read and write

Ability to read labels, correspondence, instructions, manuals, and mechanical drawings

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with associates, district staff, vendors and general public

Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring schematics to aid in troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications :

Education and Training : High School Diploma or GED equivalency

Experience : Minimum of three years in a construction or trade role; Or a combination of equivalent experience

Required Certification / Licenses : Possession of a valid PA driver's license

Possession of EPA Certification

Evaluation :

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the applicable policies of the Elizabethtown Area School District
