911 Emergency Dispatcher
Duties:
This position performs a wide variety of responsibilities to include but not limited to; Answering 911 calls/texts, answering non-emergent calls, as well as evaluating and dispatching proper resources needed for calls. Must be comfortable speaking on the phone and radio.
- Receive emergency calls and gather necessary information
- Dispatch appropriate emergency personnel to the scene
- Provide instructions to callers to assist in emergency situations
- Enter data accurately and efficiently into computer systems
- Monitor and track the status of emergency personnel and update information as needed
- Operate phone systems and radio equipment effectively
- Maintain composure and professionalism during high-stress situations
- Collaborate with other dispatchers and emergency personnel to ensure efficient response
Experience:
- Previous experience as an emergency dispatcher is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Conflict management skills to handle difficult callers or situations calmly
- Ability to negotiate and make decisions under pressure
