Accounting Specialist
The purpose of this role is to process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely manner. This position ensures that all invoices are accurate, have been properly documented, are coded correctly, and have all appropriate approvals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (approx. time spent annually)
- Process invoices daily from shipped sales orders (45%)
- Process AR credit and debit memos in a timely and accurate manner (2.5%)
- Process cash receipts daily (12.5%)
- Respond to customer credit reference requests in a timely manner (.5%)
- Process customer credit applications, including reference checks and setting up customer records in Accounting software (2.0%)
- Process AP transactions in Great Plains (20%)
- Monitor AP email/mail, scan and electronically file and update SharePoint for invoices daily (5%)
- Process AP payments (checks/ACH) daily (10%)
- Handle vendor correspondence and inquiries via phone or email (2.5%)
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enter and maintain accurate customer records in Accounting system
- Maintain electronic records of Certificate of Insurance for trucking companies
- Process new vendor applications
- Maintain electronic database of certificates of insurance and W-9s
- Maintain vendor records in Great Plains, including 1099 records
- Perform filing and copying as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts payable and receivable required
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or another related field preferred
- Previous lumber knowledge helpful
