What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Personnel - Part Time position at Elk Grove Park District?
Pay Rate: Starting at $22.00 per hour
Hours: Weekends: 7am - 1pm, 1pm - 630pm & 4pm - 11pm
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Facilities Supervisor, handle the overall security needs of the Elk Grove Park District, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Serve as a visual presence to deter unwanted behavior before it happens.
- Deescalate potential contentious issues between customers and/or staff.
- Work with building staff in matters of security to provide a safe environment.
- Enforce facility rules, regulations and Code of Conduct.
- Assist in providing first aid to injured patrons. Assist with emergency procedures, i.e. Tornado and Fire evacuation.
- Check unoccupied rooms to ensure that they are secure and locked.
- Provide security walk-through inspections inside and outside the facility
- Assist with room set-ups.
- Securing of the interior and exterior doors within assigned facilities.
- Assist other staff in providing customer service; including answering patrons questions and directing them to programs throughout the facility.
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide security assistance at other facilities and parks as assigned during special events or activity.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekend shifts, as assigned.
- Follow all driving safety rules for passengers and traffic.
- Performs other duties or tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 21st birthday by hire date.
- Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
- Valid Illinois drivers license.
- Valid First Aid, CPR and AED (Pediatric and Adult) Certifications OR willing to attend paid training to obtain current Certifications.
- Flexibility, communication skills and patience.
- Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
- Must demonstrate good safety awareness and judgment.
- Must be able to follow traffic directions, traffic rules and Park District driving guidelines.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and/or CERT Basic Training is preferred.
- Current or retired police officers in good standing are preferred.
- Must have experience with active surveillance and/or supervision where rule enforcement was required in a previous professional setting.
