The City of Elk River is seeking highly ethical, self-motivated, and community-oriented applicants for a full-time police officer position. The Elk River Police Department is a progressive agency serving a growing community of 27,000 residents and a geographical area of nearly 44 square miles. The Elk River Police Department has a current authorized full strength of thirty-five sworn officers as well as civilian staff members. Upon successful completion of probation, officers have opportunities for involvement in specialty units including SWAT, K-9, Honor Guard, Detective Unit, Juvenile Detective / SRO Unit, Bike Team, Drug Task Force, and Instructor Cadres.
The Elk River Police Department offers competitive wages and benefits including an hourly rate of $39.19-$49.76 ($81,523.66 - $103,496.90 on an annual basis) with top pay reached after completion of year two (starting wage is negotiable, dependent on experience and qualifications), abundant overtime opportunities, full initial-issue uniforms and gear including LBVs, additional wage incentives for health and wellness, tuition reimbursement up to $3,000 per year, access to city work-out facility, and more.
Qualified applicants must have a valid full-time POST license by date of application, must possess a valid Minnesota driver's license with a good driving record, and must pass a background check as well as a physical and psychological examination.

- Prepares crime reports and assists the investigator as needed.
- Assists prosecuting attorneys with the preparation of suit as directed; testifies; and coordinates the appearance of witnesses.
