Director of Dietary Services

Elkader Care Center is seeking a full-time Directory of Dietary Services to join their team to provide excellent food service.

This position will need the ability to work a rotating schedule of 6:00 am - 1:30 pm and 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm, which includes 16 hours per week of supervisory time and lead cook time. The Supervisor position requires knowledge to help direct our Dietary Aides and Dietary Cooks to help ensure the kitchen is running smoothly for our wonderful residents and staff.

This individual should have excellent food service, people skills and the ability to work seamlessly with other departmental staff.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing safe and timely meal preparation, including the provision of meals and/or supplements in accordance with residents’ needs, preferences, and care plan.
• Monitoring regular and therapeutic diets, including texture of foods and liquids to meet the specialized needs of residents.
• Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
• Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Ensure proper sanitation and safety practices of staff.
• Ensure safe receiving, storage, preparation, and service of food. Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, cooking, and transportation.
• Participating in QAPI activities when food and nutrition services are involved.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must maintain ServSafe© certification and renewal requirements as needed.
• Must also meet State requirements for food service managers or dietary managers.
• Has knowledge of special diets and all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Two years of experience in foodservice management with prior experience in healthcare foodservice preferred.
