MULTIPURPOSE /OPERATOR/ HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
LANDFILL
DEPARTMENT: Landfill
HIRING RANGE: $20.66-$28.51/hour based on education and position
related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hour week
LOCATION OF POSITION: Landfill, Elkhart
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Within County (please complete driving page on
the application)
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for driving and operating vehicles, directing and spotting traffic, and maintaining facilities and grounds.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Base level for Multipurpose, two years’ experience for Operator and three years’ experience for Heavy Equipment Operator
- Valid driver's license and must be at least 18 years of age
- Practical knowledge of and ability to make practical application of local, state, and federal regulations, Indiana statutes, and standard policies and procedures governing landfill operations as set forth by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management
- Consideration will be given to those with ability to properly operate a variety of machinery/heavy equipment, including pallet jacks, fork lifts, overhead cranes, packers, dozers, pressure washers, grinders, drill presses, cutting torches, delivery trucks, dump trucks, and other equipment as needed
- Pre-employment background check and drug screen
