**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HACCP Coordinator to join our team at Elkhorn Valley Packing, a leading beef packing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program to ensure food safety and compliance with industry regulations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop, implement, and manage HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) plans and procedures in accordance with FSIS (Food Safety Inspection Service) regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between company and FSIS.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP Plans, pre-requisite programs, and BRC program.
- Understand microbiological testing requirements and read and interpret laboratory COA’s (Certificates of Analysis).
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and sanitation teams to ensure food safety protocols are followed.
- Administer training and educate employees on HACCP principles, food safety practices, and proper handling techniques.
- Analyze data from monitoring activities and perform trend analysis. Recommend corrective actions and implement preventive measures as necessary.
- Stay current with changes in FSIS regulations and industry best practices.
Manage and conduct all required audits either internal or external (BRC Certification, Regulatory Audits, Vendor Audits, or Customer Audits).
Manage, maintain, and implement all company food safety and quality policies and procedures.
Majority of work will be performed in a plant or office environment including areas of hot/cold temperatures, loud noise.
Directly supervise 3 to 4 hourly Quality Control Technicians. Occasionally spend time on 2nd shift and perform pre-operational inspection. Covering hourly QC duties may be required from time to time.
**Qualifications:**
- Certification in HACCP and food safety is highly desirable.
Knowledge of and experience with BRC Food Safety GFSI requirements
Experience with Internal Auditing desired
Excellent user of Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
Experience in delivering training
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role, preferably in the meat processing industry desired, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of FSIS regulations and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Ability to multi-task
Knowledge of labelling requirements for FSIS products and experience with exports preferred.
