What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Clerk position at Elko Band Council?
FINANCE CLERK
The Finance Clerk is in the Finance Department, under the supervision of the
Accounting Technician. The Finance Clerk performs a variety of entry level
accounting practices with minimal supervision.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
- Process purchase orders, which is processed through the accounting
system and entered in a logbook, and given to the requestor, who in turn
secures authorized signatures. When the purchase is complete the
invoice is turned back to the finance office and is matched to the proper
purchase order and processed for payment.
- The Finance Clerk will be responsible for the accounts payable process.
The following process will be checking the information on check request
and purchase orders, which should have vendor names and numbers,
amount payable, account number, and signatures.
- The Finance Clerk will do receipting payment from customers and
departments who generated revenue, and entering into the accounting
system, and is processed for depositing each day .
- The Finance Clerk will be responsible for keeping the finance office
supplies stocked, such as pens, paper, etc. and checks.
- The Finance Clerk will help maintain files for vendors, employees, and
customers. The files are updated and keep in order by programs.
- The Finance Clerk will be responsible for preparing and updating the trash
list.
- The Finance Clerk will assist the Finance Technician and the Finance
Contractor as needed, which falls under duties as assigned, but the duties
should not exceed the knowledge of the Finance Clerk.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Knowledge of accounting procedures, terminology, and
documentation is a must.
- Must be able to relay information clearly both written and orally.
- Must be able to work independently and review financial documents to
ensure proper information is posted and processed.
- Must be able to multitask, which will ensure completion of daily duties.
- The Finance Clerk must have the skill in operating computers, 10 Key,
telephone, fax, copier with proficiency.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is accepted.
- Entry level of bookkeeping/accounting experience is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be bondable
- Must not falsify employment application, a disqualification will occur.
- Must have valid Nevada Drivers license and be insurable and must
provide copy of DMV Record with application.
- Must be an original application, no e-mail or fax copies.
- Must pass a background check.
