What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Equipment Operator position at Elko County?
Serves on a part-time/seasonal basis for the Elko County Roads Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance of county roads, bridges, cattle guards, culverts, signs, and equipment as needed.
- To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities.
- Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license.
- Knowledge of the basic use of manual and powered hand tools
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding and carrying out written and oral communications.
- Managing time effectively.
- Complying with Elko County policies and departmental procedures.
- Accomplishing organizational goals and working independently on assignments from beginning to end.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with peers.
- Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or airborne particles.
- Outdoor work is required in the maintenance of county roads, bridges, and equipment. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate vehicles and various pieces of tools and equipment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand or walk.
- The employee must infrequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud in the field.
