Job Summary:
We are seeking an entry level Take-Off Technician in underground utilities. This is a role primarily focused on bid preparations, quantities specifications, solicits, and documentation preparation. This position involves reviewing project plans and specifications to determine the materials, equipment, and labor required for the construction of underground utility systems, such as water, sewer, gas, or electrical lines.
Responsibilities:
- Review blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Identify the scope of work for underground utility installations.
Material Quantification:
- Calculate quantities of materials such as pipes, fittings, valves, and trenching requirements.
- Create an accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).
Cost Estimation:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for the project.
- Include costs for materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
Collaboration:
- Work with Estimating Team, including Sr. Estimator but not limited to procurement teams to align with project goals.
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, Estimator Team, potential and current clients for pricing and availability of materials, etc.
Software Utilization:
- Use specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Planswift, Heavy Bid, Heavy Job and Excel, Word and other construction estimating tools) to extract data and create detailed take-offs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in relevant estimating software.
- Knowledge of materials and installation techniques for underground utilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
