Safety QC/QA Specialist
Location: Freeport, TX
Position Overview
We are seeking a Safety QC/QA Specialist to join our team and ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of our storage and terminal operations. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety standards, quality control, and quality assurance processes at the facilities. The role will involve conducting inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure adherence to both internal standards and regulatory requirements in handling chemicals, petroleum, and other bulk liquid products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all operations by monitoring the adherence to safety protocols, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
- Lead safety initiatives, conduct safety meetings, and ensure that employees are trained on safety procedures.
- Oversee and conduct quality control inspections of incoming and outgoing products, ensuring products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Monitor the implementation of quality assurance procedures to ensure the highest level of operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality regulations, including ISO certifications, safety standards, and environmental laws.
- Report safety incidents, accidents, or near-misses and collaborate with management to conduct thorough investigations.
- Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide guidance and training on quality assurance practices and safety procedures to personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and safety reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits and inspections from regulatory bodies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in quality control and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational safety and efficiency.
- Ensure that operations are in compliance with local, national, and international regulatory standards.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections, audits, and assessments.
Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a safety, quality control, or quality assurance role, preferably in the oil & gas, chemical, maritime or industrial sectors.
- Experience in working within safety-critical environments and familiarity with hazardous materials handling is highly desirable.
- Certifications:
- OSHA or equivalent safety certifications are preferred (e.g., OSHA 30 or OSHA 40).
- ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 knowledge or certification is a plus.
- First Aid or HSE certification is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of quality control and safety management systems.
- Knowledge of risk management and incident investigation techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with various teams and regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using software tools like Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and quality management systems.
