Job Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in the successful execution of biogas and renewable energy projects, working closely with engineers, project managers, and operations teams. This position requires applying sound engineering principles to ensure that project designs are safe, efficient, and at the forefront of industry advancements. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and an effective communicator within a collaborative team environment. Additionally, the role involves providing feedback to leadership on process improvements and design optimizations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop engineering drawings for permitting, estimating, and construction.
- Design and prepare electrical one-lines, load calculations, equipment layout, grounding, lighting, cable schedules, and conduit plans.
- Perform and review short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Coordinate electrical designs with utilities, vendors, and suppliers.
- Develop electrical protection systems, including overcurrent protection devices (OCPD) and power relay settings.
- Supervise the commissioning and start-up of electrical systems.
- Ensure coordination of designs with other disciplines and provide technical feedback.
- Participate in HAZOP and design review studies.
- Support review and response to contractor RFIs.
- Assist operations teams with safety systems, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
- Stay updated on industry standards such as ISA, NFPA, UL, and safety / fire codes.
- Prepare specifications and technical reports.
- Seek continuous improvements in quality, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all work.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.
- Other duties as assigned.
