What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer position at Ellaway Blues Consulting?
We are currently looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for one of our clients in the Energy Corridor. The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in an active natural gas compressor station and metering project, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
Their responsibilities include:
1. Equipment Design & Selection
- Specify and select compressors, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and piping to meet project requirements.
- Ensure equipment complies with API, ASME, and ANSI standards.
- Work with vendors to review equipment performance and ensure compliance with specifications.
2. System Integration & Optimization
- Design and optimize piping and flow systems to minimize pressure drops and improve efficiency.
- Ensure proper integration of compressors, meters, separators, filters, and control valves into the overall system.
- Work with process engineers to ensure proper gas conditioning and separation.
3. Installation & Commissioning
- Oversee installation, alignment, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
- Conduct performance tests on compressors, valves, and piping systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during startup and recommend solutions.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies.
- Ensure proper pressure relief systems, emergency shutdowns, and ventilation are in place.
5. Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Conduct failure analysis on mechanical components and recommend improvements.
- Monitor vibration, temperature, and pressure data to ensure equipment is running within safe limits.
6. Coordination & Documentation
- Work closely with civil, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to ensure smooth integration.
- Review and approve technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Prepare reports on system performance, maintenance logs, and design modifications.
