POSITION:        2025-2026  Certificated ESA School Psychologist 1.0 FTE – 2 Full Time Position   

LOCATION:       Ellensburg School District  - In Person – On Site

REPORTS TO:   Director of Special Programs 

 

JOB SUMMARY

  • Evaluate students for special education eligibility, assist in developing appropriate program(s) for eligible students, and support instructional staff in providing effective instructional programs for identified students with special needs. In person – On Site.

Responsibilities

  • Administering appropriate assessments to students, interpreting results, summarizing findings for parents and staff, and reporting the findings via approved district procedures; completing intervention plans and recommendations, ensuring that assessments and plans are implemented within the stipulated legal time frames and according to state and federal guidelines; and processing appropriate referral and assessment documentation.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of state and federal legislation related to disabilities; and enhancing professional knowledge through participation in staff development, professional organizations, meetings and theoretical research in the field of school psychology.
  • Establishing necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources for the purpose of delivering services to students and staff and/or achieving the goals of IEPs.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with staff, administrators, parents, support groups, governmental and community agencies; and involving these groups in assessment, intervention and evaluation processes.
  • Providing short-term crisis intervention for students; developing a network of social referral resources, and providing to outside resources as necessary.
  • Providing leadership in the processes of manifestation determinations, functional behavioral assessments, and behavior intervention plans in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Providing leadership in establishing and developing early intervention plans for modifying student’s behavior, developing individualized behavior management plans, making recommendations; and providing feedback to school staff and parents.
  • Maintaining appropriate confidential reports, records and files in compliance with state and federal law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding the identification and placement of students in special education.
  • Knowledge of assessment of students to determine interventions and supports for learning.
  • Knowledge of community support resources and family service agencies.
  • Knowledge of best practices in programming for students on the autism spectrum.
  • Knowledge of multiple tiered services and supports
  • Knowledge of ECEAP standards and working with families in the area of family stability, well-being, financial management, education and training employment and career management preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency and application of technology.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with all school district staff and students.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide logical solutions in complex situations.
  • Ability to produce and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to remain flexible to change in assignment or situations.
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Education: 

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a psychologist

Special certification and/or license required for specific assignment.

  • Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license required
  • Background in working with families as a social worker is preferred

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Successful and recent experience as a psychologist in a school setting, preferred
  • Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred
