Description : JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for safe handling / retention / storage of all ERH medical records and medical record request per HIPAA, HHS and CMS guidelines. Assist record retrieval for UR department utilizing other EMR's available. Responsible for performing clerical duties and assisting Utilization Review Department as assigned.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (
- Essential Functions)
- Verifies patient information requests : determines amount and content of patient data to be released to Patients, Providers, Insurance Companies, Attorney, special audits, Utilization Review purposes and peer review. Organizes records, copies and delivers or sends records and logs all requests in ROI of EMR the same day as records are released.
- Assist Utilization Review Dept. with extraction of clinical documentation necessary to obtain service authorizations in outpatient departments. Assist Utilization Review with follow-up phone calls explaining patient out of pocket.
- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related date and complies with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and security of patient information; explains the law and our privacy policy to patient as needed.
- Organizes, maintains and files / scans information into records.
- Create orders for office supplies for approval by manager. After approval places order through Material POI in HMS.
- Gathers and maintains all mail correspondences for the department.
- Maintains / updates Medical Records Request Spread Sheet in real time.
- Supports Medical Records Specialist as needed
- Maintains positive behavior, approaches, attitude and commitment to interpersonal service towards patient, visitor, and / or co-workers. Provides routine information with courtesy and accuracy.
- Maintains and ensures hospital confidentiality, including documents or reports that are the property of ERH.

Salary : Base salary of $18.73 - $21.38 per hour.
