Pet Salon Client Care Specialist

The client care specialist (CCS) is responsible for providing extraordinary customer service to our clients and their pet(s). The right candidate is a “people person” who enjoys working with diverse clients and is caring, compassionate, patient, friendly, detail-orientated, and efficient.

The purpose of this position is to provide outstanding customer service. The CCS answers the phone, schedules grooming/bathing appointments, greets clients and their pet(s), admits and checks out patients, processes payments, manages financial information, and communicates information between clients and other staff.

  • Remains professional and courteous while handling multiple task with many interruptions.
  • Firmly believes in the quality of care we provide and communicates this sense of assurance to our clients.
  • Understands our services and recommendations and is able to communicate them to our clients.
  • Uses the client’s name and pet’s name to personalize communication.
  • CCS is responsible for creating the first and last impression on our clients.
  • Monitors the pet salons appointment schedule and communicates with clients about our pet salon services.
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.
  • May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.
  • Operates a multiple- line telephone system.
  • Answers incoming calls while using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Takes and routes messages for the pet salons staff members.
  • Relays all necessary information to the pet salon staff.
  • Uses active-listening skills to obtain all necessary information from the client.
  • Schedule pet salon appointments to meet the client’s needs and most efficiently use groomers’ and other staff members’ time.
  • Uses computerized scheduling program to schedule grooming, and bathing appointments.
  • Obtain pet(s) vaccination records from the client.
  • Accurately process cash and charge card payments.
  • Must be proficient with cleaning, bathing and nail trims.
  • Restocks and arranges retail and point of purchase display.
  • Maintains the refreshment area with fresh coffee and refreshments.
  • Opens the pet salon and sets up for the day as directed.
  • Closes the pet salon in the afternoon as directed.
  • Demonstrates initiative in every day duties by seeking other work during down times, assisting other employees, and filling in for other employees.
  • Adheres to the posted work schedule.
  • Organizes work area and exercises time-management skills to maximize personal efficiency.
  • Prioritizes tasks and handles multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
  • A commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 pounds.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Preferred: General computer knowledge.
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of recent experience in an office or grooming environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Supports the goals and mission of our facility.
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Must be able to pass drug screening
