About The Job
Function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in a cooperative effort with the health care team to assist in providing a variety of patient care related duties in assigned area of surgical services.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure the availability and preparedness of supplies and equipment needed to support efficient and effective perioperative processes. Gather supplies and instruments needed for patient procedures.
- Maintain anesthesia machine and cart by checking for all necessary equipment and supplies prior to start of case, cleaning after each case and restocking according to established par levels.
- Uphold an environment which consistently meets all safety, infection control and quality standards.
- Support Anesthesia and Operating Room personnel to ensure the cleanliness of equipment and support patient safety.
- Function as an integral member of the Operating Room team and contribute to maintaining a professional, respectful, and effective patient care and work environment.
- Promote continuity in surgery turnover time.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient operating room suite.
- Transport specimens, equipment, and supplies between a variety of departments and patient care areas as needed.
- Ensure a professional, respectful, and effective patient care and working environment through consistent use of appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- One year of experience in a hospital operating room or Ambulatory Surgery Center preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Medical Technician Certification from the State of New Hampshire required, unless other current NH state license is held. BLS required.
- Knowledge of practices and techniques utilized in a support role in an operating room.
