Position Overview:
The Global & Local Category Manager will spearhead the development and execution of strategic sourcing strategies for both global and local categories and associated commodities. This role encompasses oversight of significant spend across a diverse portfolio of commodities, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as supply chain, sales, engineering, and projects. The Category Manager will be responsible for identifying spend opportunities, managing outsourcing capacity needs, and evaluating supplier performance. The role includes developing sourcing strategies and leading negotiations to secure strategic contracts with suppliers at a global and local level.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree in Business Administration or Finance is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Supply Chain, or related discipline, with a demonstrated track record of managing large-scale sourcing and procurement activities.
- Strong background in all phases of procurement, with particular expertise in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects, negotiate strategic contracts, and deliver measurable cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Exceptional financial and commercial acumen, with a keen ability to analyze spend data and develop strategies that optimize value.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across global and local teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of comprehensive global and/or local sourcing strategies for assigned categories and commodities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Partner with supply chain teams, sales, engineering, and project teams to analyze spend data, manage outsourcing requirements, forecast demand, and assess the performance of current suppliers.
- Drive the identification of new suppliers and manage the end-to-end procurement process, including issuing purchase orders and contract negotiations.
- Develop and execute strategic negotiations to secure value-driven agreements with suppliers, balancing price, quality, and delivery terms to meet organizational goals.
- Collaborate with regional procurement teams to ensure successful implementation of sourcing strategies and gather actionable feedback for continuous improvement.
- Work with the global supply chain development team to identify sourcing gaps and assess potential new suppliers, facilitating seamless integration into sourcing strategies.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives across global and/or local categories, ensuring continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement operations.
- Maintain regular communication with internal stakeholders, including the procurement team, quality control, sales, and applications engineering, to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with global and/or local suppliers, engaging at the management level to drive performance improvements, negotiate terms, and address challenges.
- Lead and participate in global cross-functional teams, contributing to the achievement of organizational objectives through collaborative problem-solving and strategic decision-making.
- Travel as needed to build supplier relationships, assess performance, and negotiate key contracts, with travel requirements estimated at up to 25%. Travel will be both domestic and international.
