Overview & Responsibilities
This position is necessary to direct human and capital resources to affect the manufacture of custom designed product in the most cost effective, and timely fashion, with the goal of the finished part being of the highest quality. The individual supervisor is responsible to oversee all activities of these people in respect to their performance of designated work and assigned by the individual.
Responsibilities
- The responsibility that is expected is to execute a daily work schedule with the proper systems and priority.
- It is necessary that the incumbent provide the proper information, see that the necessary tooling and resource to do the job is available.
- On a daily basis it may be necessary to enforce plant rules, administer the labor contract, and use tact and resourcefulness to motivate each employee to achieve proficiency on each project as assigned.
- It is also paramount that this individual be responsible for all resource in respect to manhours, and budgets as they apply to scrap rework and tooling supplies.
- The incumbent will direct responsibilities of the hourly and salaried workforce.
- It is also important at times to be an individual contributor in the context of interpretation of job-related instructions.
- It may be necessary to also provide N.C. tapes and detailed route sheets as required.
- It is the supervisor's responsibility to enforce plant rules with the consequence of discipline and possible discharge of an employee in conjunction with the Human Resource Department.
Qualifications
- Educational requirements include a Diploma of a technical background (seminars, undergraduate courses, etc.) in the field of machining.
- Job experience must include five years’ experience in a manufacturing position in a Union environment.
- Technical skills must include specific knowledge of machining, cost control, manufacturing processes, and shop floor control.
- The ability to motivate and administrate Bargaining Personnel, good communicator (written and oral), possess analytical analysis capability and problem-solving techniques.
- The incumbent needs to have the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization both written and verbally.
- A solid understanding of engineered drawings is a must.
- A working interpretation of all forms of manufacturing related transmittals such as shop practices, process specifications etc.
- It is a must to process the ability motivate, mentor, provide technical direction, and to respond to individual needs in many areas primarily safety.
- This person must plan, schedule, and administer their individual area to the confines of a preplanned budget, predetermined schedules, and within the restrictions of the labor agreement.
