CDL Driver & Material Rover
Pay Range: (Based on experience) $22 - 25 Hourly

OVERALL SUMMARY

Responsible for various types of material handling. Checking in chassis’, using various tools measuring equipment. Staging chassis’ – beds, bodies, and torque frames. Shagging chassis around facility and to specific departments including Chassis Prep, Blackwork and the Final Assembly Lines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Drive employer and customer vehicles in the course of daily duties including parts run.
• Inspect truck chassis and obtain spec. information, enter data, door sticker creation.
• Drive chassis to be weighed at scale and fuel truck chassis as needed.
• Stage Chassis to load torque frames and beds/bodies as needed.
• Maneuver items up to 50 pounds on a regular basis as well as load and position materials on flatbed chassis and secure load for travel.
• Clean, inspect and stage units for final delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Individual must possess these knowledge’s, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to utilize a tape measurer accurately and record measurements.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to function effectively as a team player.
• Ability to enter chassis measurements and other data into the computer.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Valid CDL license and a clean driving record
• Some experience in a trade such as welding, automotive, electrical, hydraulic, etc.
• Ability to pass DMV records check.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
• Must be self-motivated.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• CDL License (Class B)
• Mechanical/Maintenance experience preferred

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently throughout the day, depending on work related circumstances.
• Must be able to lift objects from floor to above shoulder level and be able to lift from lying position on back overhead. Must be able to move objects/parts/tools and equipment from one area to another and one level to another.
• This position includes the following physical demands:
• Extending and pulling the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction while working with various tools as mentioned before.
• Seizing, holding, rasping, turning, pulling, or otherwise working with hands and arms.
• Using arms in such a way as pulling of tools, wrenches, parts, and equipment to complete the job.
• Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarily (rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling).
• Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to climb up and down trucks, steps, and ladders safety.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions of this job. This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions. On some days, duties may be evenly split between indoor and outdoor work, while on others, outdoor tasks may be less frequent. There are periodic high noise levels and vibration associated with this job. Sources include:

• Engine noises, air compressors, air powered equipment, and other shop noises.
• There are a variety of physical hazards in which there is danger to life, health, or bodily injury, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment, heavy parts, electrical shock, engine exhaust, working on elevated equipment, exposure to burns, and exposure to explosives (gases).
• Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work.
• Air power tools, electric drill, drill press, grinders (both hand and bench), wrenches, torches, welders, a variety of hand tools, air chipping hammers, and electric cords.
