What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2022 Summer Engineering Internship position at Elliott Group?
Overview
This is a support role to assist Elliott engineers and managers in our U.S. global headquarters location in Jeannette, PA. Students will receive “hands-on" engineering experience in a manufacturing, design, application, R & D, project or product development department in the rotating equipment industry. At Elliott, we design, build, refurbish and re-engineer products used by some of the largest companies in the world. Elliott manufactures steam turbines, centrifugal and axial compressors, cryogenic pumps and expanders, power recovery expanders and gas expanders.
All internships will consist of the following elements:
- Individual projects to own and complete for real world hands-on experience;
- Team project and activities designed to demonstrate cooperation;
- Exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of Elliott company leadership including participation in company and customer meetings and job shadowing.
All internships are based at Elliott headquarters in Jeannette, PA. Candidates must be able to commute to our Jeannette, PA headquarters Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for up to twelve weeks.
Responsibilities
Student engineers will be assigned projects directly relating to their assigned departments which could include application and marketing, engineering designs, and analysis, etc. for our product line consisting of centrifugal & axial compressors, gas expanders, steam turbines or cryogenic pumps. Each hiring manager will make specific project assignments.
Interns are required to prepare and present an end of summer presentation summarizing their projects and learning experiences.
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have completed their Sophomore or Junior year in one of the following engineering disciplines: mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, engineering science, engineering technology, industrial engineering, materials engineering, metallurgic engineering, or a field closely related to those listed above.
Candidates need a strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to offer fresh perspectives and share practical solutions to resolve engineering issues, demonstrate a willingness to take the lead on projects in process, demonstrate responsibility and commitment to the quality of the end products manufactured.
