Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced contracted Transportation Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our safety protocols within our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing effective training programs. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of occupational health and safety for all employees involved in transportation activities.
Responsibilities
The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and administering the safety and compliance with FMCSA, OSHA, and any other applicable Federal and State safety regulations. This position will manage and enforce all safety programs regarding the safety and compliance of the company. This is a contract position.
Duites
Implement, Manage, and Enforce all aspects of the company safety and health plan including DOT/FMCSA Compliance, OSHA Compliance, Federal and State Laws and Regulations, and Industry Best Safety Practices.
Implement, Manage, and Enforce Safety Policies and Procedures that address CSA, Accident Investigation, Claim Management, HOS, Drivers, Office Personnel, Drug and Alcohol, etc.
Work with other departments and management to address safety concerns and address corrective actions and hazard abatements.
Implement and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Identify, research, implement, and manage new safety techniques and technologies that will improve safety within the organization.
Monitor regulatory updates to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
Monitor and implement industry best practices for safety.
Conduct Accident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis for all accidents.
Assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
Monitor and identify accident and compliance trends within the company to address safety issues within the organization.
Maintain a pro-active approach for identifying and improving safety concerns within the organization.
Assist legal, insurance, and/or law enforcement personnel with investigations as necessary.
Develop and conduct safety training with all personnel.
Perform behavioral and disciplinary coaching for commercial drivers.
Develop and conduct safety meetings with commercial drivers and company personnel.
Develop, prepare, and submit safety reports to management that will illustrate progress and aspects of the safety department.
Manage all safety technologies, including event recorders, ELD’s, and any other safety technology adopted by the organization.
Serve as the main point of contact for all safety related inquiries.
Prepare and submit all required safety reports and regulatory filings as required.
Identify areas for safety improvement.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications and Background
3-7 Years Experience Working within a Transportation Safety Department or performing duties in Safety Management
Currently possess or capable of obtaining within 1 year Safety Certifications such as CSP, CDS, or CSS
Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA and OSHA regulations, specifically FMCSR
Experienced working with Hours of Service/ELD Systems
Knowledge of transportation specific safety issues
Strong communication skills, including verbal and written skills
Strong leadership and motivational skills
Experience managing and supervising a department or team
Ability to analyze data to make informed decisions
Detail oriented
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Professional and even tempered in stressful situations
Strong problem-solving skills
Experience in developing safety policies and procedures
Experience in conducting safety audits, including DOT and OSHA audits
Experience in claims management and risk assessments
Experience conducting safety trainings and meetings to individuals or in group settings
Competent in computer programs such as: Microsoft Word, Teams, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Pay: $48,271.00 - $51,642.00 per year
