Main Responsibilities:

As an On-Site AR Specialist, you will play a key role in our billing team, ensuring smooth and timely submission of claims and reducing accounts receivable (AR). Your responsibilities will include:

• Billing and Coding Compliance:

  • Ensure accurate coding (including modifiers and codes) for all ancillary, clinical, and surgical claims.
  • Stay up-to-date on billing compliance regulations, including unbundling rules and modifier usage.

• Claims Processing and Appeals:

  • Compile and submit necessary medical records (e.g., chart notes, diagnostic reports) to insurance companies for claims submission and appeals.
  • Resolve billing inquiries from insurance companies and patients promptly.

• Insurance Payments and Adjustments:

  • Verify insurance payments and ensure that all adjustments are correctly posted.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies between payments and billed amounts.

• Accounts Receivable Management:

  • Monitor and follow up on past-due accounts.
  • Work towards reducing AR by posting adjustments and ensuring timely payments.

• Customer Support & Communication:

  • Provide excellent customer service by fielding billing-related questions via phone and email.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information in the system.

• Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Assist in other AR and billing-related tasks as needed, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of medical billing processes and insurance claim procedures. Required skills include:

• Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English (Spanish is a plus).
• Mathematical Skills: Comfort with basic arithmetic, percentages, and the ability to analyze numerical data.
• Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and an ability to learn new software quickly.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong ability to analyze and resolve issues independently.
• Communication: Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience: One year of related experience or equivalent education/training in medical billing or insurance coding preferred. Certification (CPC or similar) is a plus.
