Our many innovative partnerships include the New England Conservatory, which provides weekly onsite music instruction to all children, Boston Public Schools which funds four high-performing Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) classrooms, JumpStart, Raising a Reader, and others. Ellis serves over 300 children annually at its flagship campus in the South End and a center in Jamaica Plain.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The All-School Teacher plays a vital role in supporting multiple classrooms as needed to meet the needs of the organization. The All-School Teacher will assist Lead Teachers, provide supervision, and help maintain a nurturing and safe learning environment for young children.
Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support lead teachers in various classrooms (infants, toddlers, preschool) as needed.
- Implement lesson plans and engage children in educational activities.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a positive and safe environment.
- Supervise and interact with children during playtime, meals, and rest periods.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols, including diapering and handwashing.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
- Help with classroom organization, cleaning, and preparation of learning materials.
- Provide coverage for teachers during breaks, absences, or planning periods.
- Observe and report any developmental concerns or incidents to lead teachers or directors.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Exhibits outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction and support.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and recruitment tools (Paylocity ATS, really Recruiter, LinkedIn Recruiter preferred).
- Strong ability to manage multiple job openings in a fast-paced, temporary setting.
- Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have a minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, additional compensation is offered for advanced degree (i.e. Associate’s, Bachelor’s degree).
- DEEC Certification for age-appropriate group.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- At least one-year of experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments.
- Strong communication (orally and in writing) and teamwork skills.
- Sound personal judgement, initiative, and resourcefulness.
- Sensitivity to multi-cultural issues, multi-cultural training preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to practice effective time management, organizational skills, priority management, and analytical ability
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
