The UPK Lead Teacher is responsible for the classroom and its students including day-to-day activity and learning plans, progress, safety, and well-being of the children as well as the knowledge of and compliance with all regulations as required by licensing agencies.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide planning and execution of Focus on Pre-K BPS curriculum.
- Maintain records of the progress of each child's growth and development; Conduct at least 2 observations per child per month.
- Maintain communication regarding child's growth and development with staff members, Program Director, and parents;
- Complete progress reports and family conferences, including observations on all children promptly quarterly, with the assistance of Teachers;
- Maintain classroom and all educational equipment and materials;
- Maintain records of all accidents, concerns regarding children, unusual behavior of children, suspected incidents of abuse and / or neglect and communicate information to Program Director and or Social Worker
- Ensure adequate nurturing of child's developmental tasks, including any special needs mandated by Protective Services;
- Schedule and participate in all staff / parent meetings;
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings;
- Coordinate staff, staff responsibilities, and staff breaks;
- Supervise teacher assistants, volunteers, and interns assigned to the classroom
- Know DEEC regulations as they pertain to your program and maintain the program in accordance with regulations;
- Be aware of and maintain the physical environment of the classroom(s);
- Be aware of and communicate to Director any repairs and maintenance issues and / or needs;
- Knowledge of all emergency procedures;
- Participate / attend monthly staff meetings / PDs including BPS-required training for UPK staff
- Participate in Individual (1 : 1) meetings with the program director every 2-months
- Agree to be observations / video recording of teacher practices to be reviewed by the BPS coach or supervisor
