SUMMARY
The General Mechanic is responsible for providing general and preventive maintenance on property related to, but not limited to, Ellis Park Racing Operations, as outlined below, in accordance with Ellis Park Racing & Gaming (the “Company”) policies and procedures.
The General Mechanic is accountable for carrying out general maintenance and repairs on, but not limited to, property vehicles and track equipment, such as tractors, harrows, grader, etc. This position will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance services, such as oil changes or minor repairs to various property equipment. This position will report directly to the Track Superintendent.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performing all levels of preventive maintenance services; troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing property vehicles and equipment.
- Inspection and perform preventative services (fluids, lubricants, safety items, batteries, brakes, steering components, generators, starters, water and fuel pumps, etc.)
- Perform engine and fuel system diagnostics and repairs, replacing items as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and machinery, adjusting and replacing brakes, tightening bolts and screws, and reassembling equipment.
- Perform hydraulic and electrical system troubleshooting and repair.
- Prepare proper documentation of repair work and time management.
- Identify root causes of complex mechanical issues and repair accordingly.
- Test and inspect repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Identifying and determining parts required for repair and maintenance.
- Maintaining work area appearance and safety.
- Inspecting, testing, and listening to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, pressure gauges, and multimeters.
- Perform inventory checks of shop-related materials such as nuts/bolts, equipment fluids, hydraulic oil, DEF fluid, WD-40, and gas for torches and welders.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in farm tractors, graders, diesel engines, and heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in DEF system for diesel equipment preferred.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
