Schedule: Flex 12-24hs/ pay period
Salary: PRN starting at $24/ Hr.
The role of the Licensed Practical Nurse is to provide quality patient care that supports and promotes Ellsworth County Medical Centers mission, vision, and values. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patients.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, infection control standards, and the mission, vision, and values of Ellsworth County Medical Center.
2. Oversees patient care activities of subordinates.
3. Coordinates, plans, and delivers quality nursing care.
4. Demonstrates a high level of efficiency, critical thinking, and maturity in nursing and personal decision-making.
5. Demonstrates a high level of ability in patient assessment and care.
6. Implements medical providers instructions and orders, in compliance with the laws of the State of Kansas.
7. Acts rapidly, effectively and demonstrates a high level of flexibility in all nursing care areas.
8. Supports, promotes, and adheres to nursing service policies and procedures.
9. Conforms to the rules and regulations of pharmacy as dictated by the State of Kansas.
10. Responsible for all documentation requirements as dictated by hospital policy.
11. Demonstrates and regularly participates in educational efforts in patient care.
12. Assists all other members of the nursing department when necessary.
13. Assists medical caregivers when necessary.
14. Participates and coordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges when appropriate.
15. Assists with care of SI and swingbed in cooperation with Case Manager.
16. Demonstrates competency and professionalism in all roles in the Nursing Department.
17. Is knowledgeable of and participates in:
a. Foley catheter insertion and care
b. Nasogastric tube insertion and care
c. Medication administration
d. Isolation procedures
e. Patient assessment
f. Use and care of equipment in the nursing department.
18. Full knowledge and understanding of the LPN IV Responsibilities and adheres appropriately within the departmental and State of Kansas guidelines.
19. Performs functions of L.P.N. in caring for patients in the Emergency Room as assigned by the nurse in charge of the unit.
20. Attends 80% of departmental meetings and actively participates in discussion.
Education:
- Completed LPN certified program from an accredited school of nursing
Experience:
- Minimum two years experience in acute care setting preferred
Skills:
- Excellent skills in organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain diverse technical problems in easy-to-understand language.
- Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.
Certifications/ Registrations:
- Licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Kansas.
- CPR and ACLS
- IV certified with certificate of IV Therapy training
