What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Elm Creek Animal Hospital?
Elm Creek Animal Hospital is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our team as a veterinary assistant/technician. We are a small animal hospital between the Cherry Street and Pearl Districts in Tulsa, OK. Our small, close-knit team prides itself on our close relationships with our clients and patients.
The right candidate would be comfortable with:
- Customer service basics, including: greeting clients/patients, answering telephones, and scheduling appointments.
- Enjoys working with people and interacting with a close-knit team.
- Self-motivated and independent.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a busy environment.
- Managing medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
- Maintaining hospital cleanliness.
- Animal care, including patient restraint, walking dogs, cleaning litter boxes, and cleaning kennels.
Experience: 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic (preferred but not required).
Candidates must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and a contact method (i.e., cell phone).
Job Type: Full Time ~36 hours/week. Elm Creek is open 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on one Saturday a month. Employees are scheduled four days a week from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm with a 30-minute break and on Saturdays on a rotating schedule. Some weekend kennel shifts and holiday kennel shifts will be mandatory.
Compensation: Salary is dependent on experience. A starting salary with little to no prior veterinary experience is $15/hour. Full-time employees receive paid time off, health insurance, and employee discounts.
