What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), Retail position at Elm Plaza Pharmacy?
Immediate opening for 8-10 Hrs./week Certified Pharmacy Technician with flexibility do full-time coverage for vacations, etc. Retail pharmacy setting in a medical office building. This is not the typical community/retail position - our focus is medication packaging for Assisted Living/Independent patients, and compounding pharmaceuticals and some Assisted Living Residents. Monday thru Friday, day shift, no evenings/weekends/major holidays.
Job Description
- Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription orders, as permitted by the State Boards of Pharmacy, handle doctor calls, faxes and medication deliveries.
- Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels and calculating quantities.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory
- Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician license/pharmacy technician certification required
- 4 years of retail pharmacy experience required, independent retail pharmacy experience a plus.
- compounding pharmacy experience a significant plus
- Flexibility in working schedule preferred
- Strong verbal/written communication skills and customer service skills required
- Strong customer service skills required
- Ability to manage several tasks at the same time, to focus on tasks, to evaluate operating conditions and exercise sound judgment
- Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, Microsoft office, smart phones and tablets
- MicroSoft Office (Word, Excel) skills required.
