Job Summary
This is a CDL A position and fulfills the role of running dedicated lanes for one of our valued customers. As a CDL Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently along designated routes. Your primary duty will be to ensure timely delivery based on the assigned schedule and adherence to all traffic laws and company regulations. Drivers will be assigned routes on 4-week rotations. This job is typically scheduled Monday through Friday with most weekends off. Production Saturdays are mandatory based on customer need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Safety operates company vehicle in accordance with company policies, OSHA and DOT requirements, all local, state, and federal laws at all times while operating the vehicle.
  • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Documents check and report safety issues utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by management.
  • Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, delays, breakdowns, or potential safety hazards.
  • Courteously interacts with customers, both internal and external, ensuring customers are serviced in a professional, cooperative, and timely manner; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
  • Mindful of good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Cooperates and maintains constant compliance with customer and/or vendor operational and safety policies and procedures.


Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

  • CDL Class A required
  • Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
  • Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Elmer Buchta Trucking employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required
  • This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

:

  • The associate must be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit. The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
  • Ability to repeatedly perform the task of dropping and hooking trailers multiple times per shift, which may involve lifting and connecting heavy trailer components, bending, stooping, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
