What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Lesson Instructor - Outdoor Pools position at Elmhurst Park District?

We are now hiring SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTORS at our Outdoor Pools during the Summer 2025 season! We will train you!
WHAT YOU’LL DO: Being a swim lesson instructor, you will be tasked with supervising and instructing participants in proper swim techniques. Additional responsibilities include:
- Teach participants appropriate skills outlined by the Starfish Aquatics Program.
- Evaluate participant skill level and record appropriate level; communicate with participants and their parents on progress.
- Prepare and complete necessary paperwork for each session.
- Ensure that all Health Department and Starfish Standards are met.
- Enforce Park District rules and safety practices.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Some high school education.
- Must be at least 15 years of age pursuant to Starfish Aquatics Program guidelines by May 16, 2025.
- 1 year of experience including working with children preferred.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of work time engaging in physical movement in water.
WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
Actual schedule varies based on your availability! Swim lesson schedule:
- Monday-Friday Mornings from 8:30am - 11:30am
- Monday - Friday Evenings from 4:45 - 7:00pm
- Saturdays from 8:30am - 12:00pm
- Sundays from 8:00am-12:00pm
WHAT YOU’LL GET:
- The anticipated starting pay for this position is $17.00/hour
- This position falls under Pay Grade E with a pay range of $14.00 - $19.00.
