The IT Systems Engineer is distinguished from an IT Support Specialist by expanding the technical role and operational procedures with little supervision and direction and demonstrating a high level of independent decision-making abilities. This role requires expertise in Microsoft Office 365, Azure Enterprise applications, and security systems administration. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless integrations and provide training and documentation for stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Define Project Scope and Deliverables: Review project scope and establish realistic timelines, parameters, and Statements of Work (SOW) for each project.

Client and Technical Documentation: Document all new and modified systems to ensure clarity and continuity for the technical team and clients.

Complex Network & Systems Configuration: Troubleshoot, configure, and implement servers, networks, and wireless solutions.

Network & Security Skills: Hands-on knowledge of M365 Admin, Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, TCP/IP, subnetting, firewall configuration, and VPN management.

Automation & Scripting: Experience with PowerShell and automation of systems tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Technical Lead for Project Implementation: Technical lead for project planning and hands-on execution for a variety of IT deliverables, collaborating closely with internal teams and clients to ensure seamless integrations.

Service Desk Escalation Support: Act as a Level 3 support for advanced issues escalated by the service desk.

Microsoft Office 365 technical subject matter expert required. Preferred expert-level understanding and project-level experience in Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Azure AD.

Azure Enterprise application configuration/setup including SSO and application registration

App registrations: Register and configure applications in the identity provider's portal, ensuring proper permissions and access controls are in place.

Documentation and training: Create and maintain documentation for the setup and management processes, and provide training to relevant stakeholders.
SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 5 years of recent hands-on systems or network deployment and administration work, ideally within an MSP environment.

Security Systems Administrator experience level or above on Defender, Entra, Intune, Compliance Manager/E-discovery

Project Execution: Proven experience in managing Microsoft cloud solutions, server and email migrations, and IT project delivery.

Advanced Systems Expertise: Proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS (10, 11, Server 2016, 2019, 2022), building servers from scratch, configuring storage solutions, and managing complex network environments on-prem, in virtualized environments, and in the cloud.

Certifications: CompTIA A and Network , with Cloud or Security preferred.

MSP Tools & Technologies: Experience with ConnectWise Manage, ConnectWise Automate, and other MSP-focused tools.

Server Proficiency: Solid understanding of Windows server implementation, configuration, alerting/monitoring, backup/recovery and virtualization. Experience with IP routing, DNS, DHCP and system security.

Advanced Certifications: Microsoft M365 Fundamentals, M365 Administration, Entra ID for identity management.
