What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector position at ELOS Environmental, LLC?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs field inspection of structures during various stages of construction to ascertain compliance with approved plans, specifications, product manufacturers’ instructions, and applicable construction codes for residential and commercial buildings.
- Communicates with property owners, contractors, and others in the process of field inspection to schedule inspections, explain requirements, review compliance with plans and codes, and provide final approval.
- Provides information to the public regarding codes relating to construction; assists architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners in interpreting and meeting code requirements.
- Prepares and maintains forms, photographs, records, and reports relative to inspection activities.
- Performs plan reviews for residential and commercial projects for compliance with applicable codes.
- Investigates complaints associated with non-permitted construction or structures not in compliance with applicable codes.
- Uses technical devices and software to complete inspections and reports.
- May perform disaster assessments for residential and commercial structures following natural or man-made disasters.
- May perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or its equivalent.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to apply knowledge of building and related codes to inspect and report on compliance of complex construction projects.
Certification and Experience
- Required minimum ICC certification as a Building Inspector or Residential Inspector. Combination Inspector or additional ICC certifications are preferred.
- Required 5 years of journey-level experience in the construction or building trades.
- Preferred: ICC certification as a Residential and Commercial Inspector in the following disciplines: Electrical, Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing; equivalent state certifications or licenses.
