Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee projects in the Mid-Atlanticand Northeast regions. This role will manage day-to-day field operations for assigned projects,ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence while representing ELS Construction with clients andpartners on site. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, exceptional subcontractormanagement skills, and the ability to deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Project Execution
Provide on-site leadership for project execution, serving as the company's primary fieldrepresentative
Coordinate with Project Managers to align field operations with project goals and clientexpectations
Work with Project Managers to develop project schedules and ensure milestone dates and criticalpath activities are met
Manage day-to-day site activities, including subcontractor coordination, material deliveries, andinspections
Provide regular updates on progress and potential issues that may impact the schedule
Ensure strict adherence to plans, specifications, and quality standards throughout construction
Identify field-level issues proactively and collaborate with the project team on effective solutions
Enforce safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment at all times
Subcontractor & Resource Management
Coordinate and manage all subcontractors, ensuring proper execution of their scopes of work
Conduct pre-construction and progress meetings with subcontractors to set expectations andaddress issues
Verify subcontractor manpower levels are appropriate to maintain schedule requirements
Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite at all times
Schedule and coordinate material deliveries to align with project needs
Manage site logistics, including temporary facilities, equipment, and storage areas
Implement efficient resource utilization practices to optimize productivity and minimize waste
Documentation & Communication
Complete daily reports documenting site activities, manpower, deliveries, weather conditions, andissues
Maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout the construction process
Document project progress through regular photo documentation
Conduct and document weekly safety meetings with all on-site personnel
Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors
Provide timely and accurate information to the Project Manager regarding field conditions
Quality Control & Problem Resolution
Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure work meets specifications and company standards
Manage punch list process effectively to ensure timely project completion
Lead quality control efforts with subcontractors, addressing issues immediately as they arise
Coordinate with municipalities and schedule building department inspections and third-partytesting requirements
Work with clients' operational teams during turnover, ensuring smooth transition
Receive, document, and protect owner-provided equipment and materials
Implement proper start-up and commissioning procedures for building systems
Troubleshoot field issues with practical solutions that maintain project goals
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
Strong restaurant construction experience required
Additional experience with other construction types (retail, commercial, etc.) highly desirable
Familiarity with Mid-Atlantic/Northeast construction practices, building codes, and regulatoryrequirements
Proven ability to manage subcontractors effectively in high-pressure environments
Experience with fast-track construction schedules and occupied space renovations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and project stakeholders
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality standards
Proficiency with digital field documentation tools and basic computer skills
Commitment to safety as a core value and responsibility
Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
