About the Role As a Deputy Editor you will assist the Editor-in-Chief in all aspects of the organisation and preparation of our journal. You will partner closely with our in-house cross-functional, specialist teams to help build collaborative working relationships. You will encounter some of the best research in the world and will partner with a truly global authorship base. Responsibilities · Deputising for our Editor-in-Chief to ensure our team provides a smooth and consistent service · Assisting our Editor-in-Chief with decisions on selecting new submissions for publication · Identifying experts to act as peer reviewers on selected submissions · Commissioning and handling special project content as necessary · Developing and maintaining links with the global health community to seek high-quality research and thought leadership for our journal · Attending conferences and events to represent our journal, identify topics and authors and to keep up to date with developments in global health Requirements · Show substantial editorial experience at Senior Editor level with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process · Have a higher degree in a relevant discipline such as public health or biomedical science · Demonstrate research experience in a related field or have experience in the wider development community · Display first-class critical analysis skills and the ability to implement solutions · Show a genuine commitment to equity in health and health care · Be a great motivator of teams and people and demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude Work in a way that works for you For this particular role, we do not expect daily attendance in the office but believe that regular in-person team meetings can be beneficial for us all.
