Facilities Manager

About the Company

Elsewhere is a multi-room Brooklyn music venue and nightclub built by and for the culture-obsessed, an events  collective with deep roots in NYC's underground music community. We are here to empower artists, celebrate  the diversity of our city, widen access to visionary and uplifting culture, and experience the joy of doing it all  together.

If you share our passion for music and art without boundaries, and you're looking for the challenge of your career,  we want to connect with you - join us and grow with one of the best teams in independent arts, hospitality, events,  and culture.

About the Role

Elsewhere is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused Facilities Manager to join our Venue team. Reporting to the Managing Director and General Manager, the Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that Elsewhere’s spaces remain well-maintained, functional, and inspiring for staff, artists, and guests alike.

This role combines hands-on management with strategic planning and vendor coordination to support seamless operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, and brings a mix of technical expertise and creative problem-solving to the table.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to…

Facilities Maintenance :

Oversee all aspects of facilities upkeep, including bars, bathrooms, lighting, doors, plants, and other venue infrastructure to meet Elsewhere’s standards of functionality and aesthetics

Conduct regular inspections to identify areas in need of repair or enhancement.

Event Support :

Collaborate with operations and production teams to ensure the venue is properly equipped for concerts, club nights, and private events.

Anticipate and address day-to-day needs for seamless event execution.

Vendor & Contractor Management :

Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and vendors, including those handling HVAC systems, fire alarms, pest control, soda guns, and dishwashers.

Oversee renovation and improvement projects such as roof buildouts, interior redesigns, and other infrastructure upgrades.

Compliance & Safety :

Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, including DOH, DOB, and FDNY requirements.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes and safety protocols specific to music venues and nightlife spaces.

Project Management :

Plan, lead, and manage facilities projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

Collaborate with the Head of Production on rigging, electrical, and safety-related projects.

IT Coordination :

Partner with IT contractors to integrate technology solutions that align with operational and production needs.

Reporting :

  • Provide regular updates to the General Manager and Managing Director on facilities status, project progress, and upcoming needs.

Emergency Response :

Offer limited on-call availability to address urgent facility issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

You’ll be successful in this role if you…

  • Bring 3 years of experience in facilities management, ideally within nightlife, entertainment, or hospitality.
  • Have strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to manage contractors and vendors, including negotiating contracts and overseeing projects.
  • Are familiar with regulatory compliance requirements for NYC venues.
  • Excel at problem-solving and staying organized, even in fast-paced environments.
  • Can balance long-term planning with addressing immediate operational needs.
  • Communicate effectively and thrive in a collaborative team setting.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary : $65,000 - $80,000 per year
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • Employee Health Benefits, Vision, and Dental
  • 401(k)
  • Elsewhere’s Values

These values are real and guide all of our decisions in how we operate and how we treat people. This includes our decisions to hire, reward, and fire. Every single person at Elsewhere will be held to these standards. This is how we build a great team, achieve our goals, and do so enjoyably.

    INCLUSIVITY

Elsewhere is a haven for our staff, artists, and audiences to experience the joy of expressing their authentic selves. Everybody has the right to feel welcomed and understood here, in direct defiance of all the ways our society tries to divide us up out there. We crave connectivity and togetherness.

    OPTIMISM

The chills we get experiencing transcendent music in a crowd remind us that a better world is possible. Elsewhere is a celebration of that feeling - of joy, wonder, and hope. We are here to have fun!

    RESPECT

Our love for the game comes from a place of deep respect : for the extraordinary history of music and nightlife in NYC, for the working artists out there redefining culture, and for our staff who live and breathe it every night. To do right, we extend that respect to each other and everyone else along the journey.

    SELFLESSNESS

Our job means service : to our teammates, artists, customers, community, city, and to the culture. We celebrate individuality, but there is no place for ego.

    INTEGRITY

We believe strong communities are built on trust, and so everyone must rely on us to be honest, transparent, and consistent. We live our values and stand by them even when it’s hard or inconvenient. We admit our mistakes and work to grow from them.

    PASSION

What drives us isn’t just work—it’s a deep belief in our mission. Whether it’s supporting emerging artists, helping audiences discover transformative music, building a sense of community, or shifting culture, our shared purpose fuels everything we do and keeps us moving forward.

    EXCELLENCE

To accomplish our goals we aim high, and work both hard and smart.

    CREATIVITY

The beauty of culture is that it is always evolving, and so should we. We value out-of- the-box thinking, challenging “the way things are,” and imaginative leaps. Like in art, it is better for us to fail trying something new than to not be experimenting in the first place.
