What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate - PART TIME - Graceland position at Elvis Presley Enterprises?
This is a part-time position located in the Sales/Reservations/Ticket Office Department at Graceland with variable/flexible working hours to include week-ends, holidays, evenings, and overtime as required. This is a promotional opportunity and is an internal/external recruitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Make reservations/bookings for The Guest House and Graceland; ensure all requests are processed in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner; work closely with supervisor, coworkers, and hotel staff; provide general information and tour rates to guests calling, faxing, and e-mailing Graceland as well as assist coworkers in providing quality guest relations for a first class tour and guest experience; answer questions both in person and on the telephone; process bus/tour group reservations for the Hotel and Graceland property; conduct both credit card and cash transactions; provide directions and information about Memphis; process Graceland reservations for groups and individuals via telephone, mail and fax, mail information packets; mail out confirmations; assist with special requests; assist with maintaining the appearance of the reservations and guest services areas; provide continual guest assistance; assist guest(s) with problems as requested and refer as appropriate; enter information into a multi computerized system; assist with informing guests of related policies; report problems to appropriate person(s) in a timely manner; work on computerized system selling tickets to guests; operate P.A. System and two-way radio as needed; ability to prioritize work with minimum supervision; receive incoming calls and route to appropriate department; other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Ability to cope with extremely heavy workload; excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in person and on the telephone are essential; working knowledge with hotel reservations is preferred; must have worked in the hospitality industry for at least six months; a background in working in a guest/customer service area is desired; ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision; excellent attention to detail; ability to perceive and deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality; ability to deal successfully with a wide range of people; ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing needs; must be able to input data into a computer; provide reports and retrieve information as required from a computerized system.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.; ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate with a diverse group of individuals both in person and on the telephone.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: No smoking or eating in the work area.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work flexible hours and overtime as required; a uniform is required; must have a least six months in the hospitality industry; some knowledge working with hotel reservations is preferred.
