Duties
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to individuals seeking recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate discussions around personal goals and recovery plans.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and crisis management skills.
- Conduct crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Engage client in developing healthy relationships through social activities.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Educate clients about available resources, support systems, and community services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Maintain daily progress notes as well as required reports/record keeping for the medical records needs.
- Abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations and all state and federal law as outlined for the substance abuse treatment providers.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and consultation to the individual to promote recover, self advocacy, and self-direction.
- Assisting the consumer with the identifying and effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments.
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in behavioral health.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Experience or education in social work, mental health counseling, or addiction counseling is preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for clients.
- Proven ability to engage in effective mentoring relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with crisis management techniques and intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on active listening.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within the field.
- A genuine passion for helping others achieve their recovery goals.

We are seeking Certified Peer Specialist for the greater Charlotte, NC area to join our ELW consulting services team. You must be able and capable to see clients in person throughout the week. Have reliable transportation and know how to track your clients hours.
Our pay ranges $18 - $22 based on experience.
